New Asemic Work 2017

 

When one explores the term ‘asemic writing’, there are very few variations in definition. It is generally perceived to be wordless writing, with open, or no semantic content. Since making artworks of asemic writing, without even understanding this as an art form, I had always referred to it as writing in the shadowlands – that is, a writing form existing between words and language. It LOOKS like writing, but it is not writing – if one perceives writing to be script intended to communicate. In other words, asemic writing disrupts the process of signification to construct a language structure that is a visual image, with, in most instances, language logic still in play…  (Article and book to be published)
